No, Psych Intersect is an out-of-network provider. You can download what is called a “superbill” every month and submit that to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement benefits. We recommend you contact your insurance company before starting session to ensure they will reimburse you.
-
Every month, you will be able to download a “superbill” from your electronic health record account. A superbill is an itemized receipt that lists the date, session type, location (in office vs telehealth), cost, CPT code(s) and diagnoses codes.
CPT codes are medical codes that say what type of services you received. Every month, you can send in your superbill and receive reimbursement from your insurance provider, which will vary depending on your out-of-network benefits.
It is recommended that you research and learn about your specific out-of-network behavioral health benefits prior to attending your first session. Some insurance companies require pre-authorization for services, and most plans will not pay for out-of-network services unless your deductible is met. Additionally, you may want to call and make sure they will reimburse you for telehealth sessions. -
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
— You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
— Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
— You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.— Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
— If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
— Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
— In the case of therapy, services are ongoing (rather than a one-time appointment or procedure). Therefore, Psych Intersect’s GFE for therapy services provides an estimate of the expected total cost for a year of therapy. If you would like a GFE for therapy, please contact your provider to make a request.

When you schedule an appointment, that time is reserved for you. If you cannot attend your appointment, please provide notification as soon as possible and at least 24 hours in advance to avoid any charges. With less than 24 hours’ notice, you are agreeing to pay for the time you reserved, and you will be billed for a full session. We must charge a full fee if you cannot make your appointment and you do not cancel the appointment at least 24 hours in advance.

We are excited to join you on this journey!
Clients often start off with a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit for the issues they want to explore in therapy.
In your exploratory intake session, you can expect us to talk about what’s impacting your mental health, what you’re looking for in therapy, and your goals. We will also ask questions to better understand the context of your concerns, learn about your strengths, and ensure we’re the best fit for your needs.
This initial session is also an opportunity to start forming our working alliance. The therapeutic relationship is critical to whether therapy will ‘work’ and that connection begins from day one. As we form our alliance, our relationship creates a protected space where you can explore your intersecting identities, better understand yourself, and make transformative changes.

Most clients book weekly sessions, where you’ll see improvements and growth the most quickly. For therapy to be helpful, it’ll be important that you and your therapist have the chance to develop rapport and a good working relationship. It’s because of this that we recommend weekly sessions and advise against infrequent sessions, especially as you start out.
As the relationship develops and things move in the right direction, it’s not uncommon for clients to move to sessions every other week.
-
The length of therapy depends on many factors, including what you would like to address and how deep you want to go. Many people like to address a specific issue, while others want to generally explore their life, the choices they’ve made, and better understand what makes them tick.
Although a specific number of sessions cannot be determined, you can work closely with your therapist to determine what works best for you and your circumstances.

Psychologists at Psych Intersect can provide letters for clients seeking gender affirming health care, including letters to support hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and gender affirming surgeries.
It’s important to meet with your provider for several sessions so they can collect mental health history, learn about your gender identity, and provide a strong letter of support.
-
While some psychologists are able to prescribe (with extra training and in certain states), psychologists at Psych Intersect are not able to prescribe medications.
However, psychologists (and other mental health clinicians) often consult with prescribing providers to make sure the client is getting holistic care from a team of committed individuals.
